The Green Room (December session)

The Green Room (December session)

Meet and work with film/tv casting directors, get feedback, and nail your auditions

CONGRATULATIONS TO ERIN ROTH & MARGARET LANEY WHO BOTH GOT CALLED IN BY GEOFFREY
SOFFER (CASTING DIRECTOR FOR "UGLY BETTY"/ABC) ON THE SPOT FOR GUEST STAR ROLES ON THE SHOW!

Katja Blichfeld, Casting Coordinator, from NBC says:

"I think The Green Room is a very valuable format for actors to participate in because it gives them an opportunity to receive
professional feedback from multiple sources. It is a realistic sort of experience, in the sense that actors get varying opinions on their work – just as they would in life, going to different casting offices. Then the actors can put all this feedback together and assess where they are truly at in terms of ability and readiness for “the real world” of auditioning. It is a mistake for actors to think that school training is all they need to get in front of a camera. Once an actor gets in the room with the lights pointed at them, the camera in their face, etc – they see it isn’t just like sitting in class with a group of your peers. The Green Room mimics (to great effect) an audition process, with the added bonus of FEEDBACK! I don’t think people realize that one doesn’t always get feedback when they actually audition for something."

Recent testimonials:

"Jennifer Rudolph's Green Room is a crucial step in any actor's career. I felt like I'd come to a dead end in my career before I started working with Jen. I studied and got work on stage but never understood why I was so nervous in performance situations and especially in auditions. Why wasn't I booking much or being seen? I was losing confidence in my abilities as an actor. Jen changed that for me. Jen helps you demystify the process of auditioning. She teaches you in a frank manor that brings up your professionalism and overall preparedness for the big moment. Since working with Jen I've gotten great representation. I've been seen by "30 Rock", "Rescue Me" and "Law and Order" in the past year. I've also increased my bookings by going into the room with knowledge of the rights and wrongs plus the confidence to bring my best work. It's simple: strong auditioning is as important as training. If you want a real shot at making it in this business, you need to find time to come into the Green Room." - Jane Dashow

The Green Room is in it's second year now. The class originally was intended to be an "advanced" class for those having taken my 4 Week Film/TV Class designed to serve as a conduit for these actors to meet and work with the film and television industry's top casting directors, agents and managers. The Green Room is a chance to take acting & audition technique to the next level and put it to work in an audition setting with the benefits of a class. Katja Blichfeld from NBC, James Calleri and Erica Jensen (casting directors for "Lipstick Jungle"), Marci Phillips from ABC, Kate Martineau from "As the World Turns" and Daryl Eisenberg (casting director for "Gossip Girl" and "Cashmere Mafia") have toted The Green Room as being one of the best training grounds and formats for actors to both meet and work on-camera with them and learn the business aspect of being an actor. When an actor auditions for a project, they are showing the casting director the best they can do and "how you will be on the set. It's not a rehearsal or a class. It is a final performance. Not only is it extremely important to have relationships with casting directors, it is essential to learn what is required of you both in and out of the room and to polish those skills as to be at the competitive level. To take part in the class, the actor is required to come to class 110% prepared each week. You will be taken seriously by the industry should you take the class seriously. Just like in an actual Green Room, you will receive the necessary notes to tweak your performances, better your approach to material, and uncover new knowledge so that you can go back out into the world and nail your auditions. Over the course of four weeks, actors get to work with casting directors on various genres (including Primetime Television and Film), participate in Q/A's, and receive on-camera coaching from 2 casting directors at a time.

The Green Room is the ultimate training ground and provides tremendous opportunties to actors who are willing to give it their all.

Class reschedules, industry substitutions, and/or what happens if you have to to miss a class

Like in the audition world, there is a rare chance that a class may need to be rescheduled. If this should occur, there will be a make up class offered with that particular industry guest. If you cannot make the make up class or if you have to miss a class due to personal or professional reasons, you are welcome to join a later Green Room class session to make up the missed class with a different industry guest. There is also the rare occurance that an industry guest will not be able to make their scheduled class. If this should occur, either an associate from their office will take their place that evening or another industry guest will come.
